Course Description
Physical science is an overview of two major divisions of the sciences, physics and chemistry. The course encourages students to develop inquiry skills, reading comprehension skills of science textbooks, and math and problem solving skills. Hands-on labs make the learning more interesting and facilitate the understanding of concepts as well as introduce students to the use of technology when performing scientific investigations. Topics to be covered include: scientific method, matter, measurements, kinematics, dynamics, energy, work, simple machines, the atom, elements and the periodic table, bonding and compounds, chemical reactions, mixtures and solutions, acids, bases, and salts, electricity, magnetism, and sound.
